Updates

During the session with the Staff unit, CU-UAW presented proposals on (1) Staff Compensation, (2) Temporary Employees, (3) Probation, and (4) a staff side letter concerning REDCAT employees.

CalArts and CU-UAW met three times for bargaining the week of July 13: Once for bargaining for Staff, once for bargaining on a consolidated basis, and once for bargaining on faculty articles.

CU-UAW exchanged counter proposals to (1) Management Rights, (2) Professional Development, and (3) Retirement. CalArts exchanged counter proposals on (1) Tuition Benefits and Loan Assistance, (2) Release Time, and (3) Duration.

CalArts presented proposals on (1) Regular and Technical Faculty Compensation, (2) Staff Compensation, (3) Health Benefits, (4) Professional Development, and (5) Retirement. CU-UAW presented a counterproposal on Leaves.

CU-UAW made counterproposals on (1) Discipline and Dismissal for Special Faculty, (2) Workspace and Materials for both faculty units, and (3) Intellectual Property for all faculty. The parties also discussed the academic freedom article.

During the session with the faculty units, CalArts presented proposals on (1) Discipline and Dismissal for Special Faculty, (2) Intellectual Property, (3) Academic Freedom, and (4) Grievance and Arbitration and No Strike, No Lockout.
