On July 11, 2025, CU-UAW sent CalArts its initial demand to bargain over the collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) for the Regular and Technical Faculty, Special Faculty, and Staff units. CalArts responded promptly accepting the demand to bargain and agreeing to meet on July 29, the earliest date offered by CU-UAW. CalArts also shared a draft proposal for how to structure negotiations, and expressed hope that the structure and cadence of bargaining sessions can be set quickly, enabling the parties to begin bargaining over substantive issues as soon as possible.
