Continuing the productive discussions between CalArts and the union, the two parties voluntarily agreed to enter into election agreements providing for many things, including the scope of the represented units and the details of the election.
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) set the dates to conduct a secret-ballot election for employees in the below-listed bargaining units to determine whether they would like CalArts United-United Auto Workers (“UAW”) to be their exclusive bargaining representative.

Employees on leave and remote:
Employees on approved leaves and those who are fully remote should receive a mail-in-ballot. Please review the attached respective Notice of Election and follow the instructions for mail-in voting.
Why you should vote:
The outcome of the election will be decided by a simple majority of the votes cast by eligible voters. A “Yes” vote means you wish to be represented by the union; a “No” vote means you do not wish to be represented by the union. If you do not vote either way, it reduces the number of votes needed to certify or reject the union.
Questions:
If you have any questions please email Mayra Delgadillo, Director of Legal Operations & Contract Management, at mdelgadillo@calarts.edu.
*Individuals whose eligibility to vote is contested between the parties will vote “under challenge,” and the NLRB will determine at a later date whether they should be included in the bargaining unit.
